Tilly Buttons Stevie dress with gathered skirt...version no. 1!
As soon as I laid eyes on the Stevie Dress add on pack I knew it was exactly the laid back casual dress pattern I'd been looking for.
The standard Stevie is a simple tunic with grown on sleeves and simple tie back but the add-on pack transforms it to an oversized smock dress with a gathered skirt and patch pockets...heaven!
I've seen a few people on Instagram wearing really paired back style of a simple smock dress with high top trainers and wanted to replicate this as it's such a great everyday look and can take you from day to night easily by switching up your shoes and adding some chunky jewellery and a belt.
These were the pics that inspired my Stevie...
I chose to make it from a linen look viscose from Minerva Crafts which worked fabulously. It has really great drape and was only £7.99 p/m. I added two patch pockets to the front of the dress and a button closure to the back as I wanted to keep the look as simple as possible.
I love the stitching detail around the neckline and the back, I absolutely love topstitching so this was right up my ally! It is a really satisfying make and comes together pretty quickly. I've made two more since and have the fabric ready for my fourth which is going to be a long-sleeved version with a longer skirt and waist ties...I cannot wait to get going with is when I have a spare evening!
This is a really amazing pattern and I'm sure I'll be making lots of versions for the winter, I would love to make a top version in linen too.
Have you made the Stevie? What do you think?
