My First Myosotis...
Updated: Aug 19, 2020
I've been eyeing up this pattern by Deer and Doe for about a year and finally bit the bullet and bought it this year. I've had lots of sewing time during lockdown (which has actually been lovely and really inspiring which is a positive thing!).
Whenever I buy a new pattern I research the hell out of it first by looking at the hashtags on Instagram and ready as many blogs as possible! Sew Haley Jane made a version in double gauze which appealed to me. It's such a soft fabric, great for the summer. I'm glad I watched she sew along as she said she omitted the iron-on interfacing as it made the front too stiff...great tip!
I bought the black Sunset fabric by Atelier Brunette from Sister Mintaka (now out of stock but available in white). It's got gold suns on it...yes gold!!
It was really lovely to sew with and the dress came together without any problems (apart from trying to make buttonholes but my machine needs a service and can be a bit temperamental!) I was worried at one point that I'd cut a size too small (I'm a 12 but went with the 10 on the pattern size guide) but it fits like an absolute dream! I decided not to add buttons and just close the front with a line of topstitching, I think buttons would have made it too fussy for me.
I've already made another version in an insane rainbow fabric by Ruby Star Society (check out the post here) and would love to make another, possibly in a pink viscose or chambray blue...fabric ideas below please!!
I know this dress will get a lot of wear and will be great over the colder months too...already got this in mind for Christmas Day as I can eat and eat in this :)
Have you made this? Please leave your blog links below as I'd love to see your versions!
